The VIR (Vehicle Information Report) is a detailed car check on the legal status and vehicle history in New Zealand. Unfortunately many cars sold today have hidden problems that can cost the new owner thousands. Approximately one third of the vehicles we check have something that buyers need to be aware of.
A VIR car check will quickly identify the vehicle and alert you to problems like:
- is any money owing that could result in the car being repossessed?
- are there unpaid fees that a new owner would have to pay?
- does the odometer appear to have been wound-back?
- who are the current and past registered owners?
- is the vehicle stolen or wanted by the police?
- was the vehicle imported as a damaged vehicle?
